Genealogical queries will be published in the Newsletter, space permitting, and at the editor’s discretion, giving preference to Fairfield County, other Connecticut counties and nearby Westchester and Dutchess Counties, New York. Queries which are too vague or general will not be used. Make queries brief, but include known dates, places and other identifying information. Don’t abbreviate, as we will do that.

 100. WATERBURY—NEWKIRK—COOKE. Need birth date and parents of Sarah Newkirk, wife of John Waterbury, 1681/82 to 1710, who built Buttonwood Farm, Stamford (now Darien). John and Sarah were parents of General David Waterbury and Sylvanus Waterbury who was a Loyalist with two sons, Sylvanus and Peter Cooke Waterbury.

Also need maiden name (probably Cooke) and parents of Sarah, wife of Sylvanus Waterbury, born 1730, Stamford, died 1787, New Brunswick, Canada. Jane Edmundson, 35 Bridge St., Apt. 302, Westport, CT 06880.

101. SEELEY—SHELDON. Seek parentage for Sarah Ann Seeley (born 13 Oct 1801 in CT; died 3 Feb 1869, Clifton, Illinois). She married John B. Sheldon about 1820-21, probably in Otsego Co., NY. Cannot find 1801 CT birth for Sarah Ann Seeley; would like to link her to one of the Seeley families living in Otsego Co., NY, in the 1810 or 1820 census. 102. FROST—BOOTH. Need information on parents/wife of William Frost, born 1589, Nottingham, Notts., Eng.; died Jan. 1644/45, Fairfield, Fairfield Co. Four children, born in Nottingham, came to Fairfield with him in 1639: Daniel (ca 1613-1681/82 Bankside, Fairfield), Elizabeth (born 1614); Lydia (born 1618), and Abraham (born 1622).

Also need information on first wife of Daniel Frost above. Their daughter, Rebecca Frost (born 1640, Fairfield; died 25 Dec. 1688, Enfield, Hartford Co.), married 5 Jan. 1663 Simeon Booth of Saco, ME, Salem, MA, and Enfield. 103. FOSTER. Seek wife of Josiah Foster, Jr., of Ridgefield, Fairfield Co., mother of William Foster, 1753-1836, of Onondaga Co., NY. Jane Edmundson, 35 Bridge St., Apt. 302, Westport, CT 06880.

104. MORGAN. Seek information on wife (Martha _____) and children of William Morgan, 1732-after 1802, of Norwich. Two of their children, Daniel and Martha Morgan, were baptized 2 June 1776 in Norwich. 105. DOTY—CADY. Seek proof of Keziah Doty’s parents. LDS Ancestral File lists them as Samuel and Zerviah Lovell Doty. Keziah. born ca 1756?, Coventry, Tolland Co.; m Elias Cady, son of Ebenezer and Prudence Palmer Cady, who moved first to western Connecticut and then to Canaan, Columbia Co., NY. 106. MILLS. Need info re parents and/or siblings of John Mills, born ca 1788 or 1789, Darien area, died 20 Jul 1848; resided in Norwalk. He married Cynthia Green of Pound Ridge who died 1 Mar 1834, age 45. They had a child, Smith Mills, born Darien, 8 Jun 1818; died 8 Jan 1899; resided in Rowayton, had many children. 107. INGHAM—CHALKER. Need information on Samuel INGHAM and his wife Ruth CHALKER Their daughter Ruth was born 1722 in Saybrook, Middlesex Co., and married Oliver Booth of Enfield, Hartford Co., about 1750. 108. KIRKLAND/KIRTLAND. Seek information on Connecticut ancestors and family of Ambrose KIRKLAND/KIRTLAND, b. 1811 in Connecticut; also his wife Martha ________ (possibly SHEPARD).  111. BATES—HUNTINGTON. Lois BATES married Jeremiah HUNTINGTON Jr. (born 1751 in Norwich, removed to Bennington Co. UT). Was this the Lois BATES born 7 Jan. 1754 in Durham, Middlesex Co., daughter of Lois and Stephen BATES Jr.? Laura Garrett, 726 Brown Ave., Pueblo, CO 81004.

112. BRYAN/BRYEN/BRUYN. Seek information on Charles BRYAN, born in Brookfield about 1812, the son of Emelia and Charles BRYAN Sr. who had been born in Holland. Ron Prince, 1203 Stone Trail, Longview, TX 75604.

113. BURROWS—GATES—PHELPS. Seek information/obituaries on William Arvin BURROWS (died 11 May 1904/05), Herbert GATES (died 19 Sept. 1913), and  Walter PHELPS (died 19 Sept. 1913. It is believed that all died in Moodus, Middlesex Co. Karen Murray, 4981 Daisy, Springfield, OR 97478.

114. LOCKART. Need Connecticut town (possibly Middlesex Parish/Darien) where James LOCKART lived 1740-1762. He married Rebecca ? about 1740, and they had children John (b 1744), Mary (b 1751), James (b 1752), Alexander (b 1755), Miriam (b 1757) and David (b 1760). 115. DOTY. Seek parents of Keziah DOTY (b 1760 in Coventry, Tolland Co.) who m Elias CADY (b about 1756 in Coventry). His parents were Ebenezer and Prudence Palmer CADY. Keziah and Elias lived in Florida, Orange Co., NY and/or Canaan, Columbia Co., NY, and had nine children. Their daughter Rhoda Ann CADY m Daniel JACKSON and had a son named Samuel Doty JACKSON.  116. BURNAP. Seek parents, birthplace and birth date for Mary BURNAP who married Samuel HIBARD (1710-1792) 27 Sept. 1748 in Windham, Windham Co. Mary and Samuel had seven children in Windham: Abel (b 1749), Mary (b 1750), Lucia (b 1753), Asa (b 1755), Diah (b 1756), Lyma (b 1760) and William (b 1762). 117. REED/READ/REID. Capt. John REED (b Cornwall, Eng., abt 1633; Capt. in Oliver Cromwell’s army) came to Providence, RI, in 1660, where he m widow Ann Derby in 1666. They settled in what is now Darien where they had six children: John (m Elizabeth Tuttle), Thomas (b 1672), William, Mary (m David Tuttle in 1698), and Abigail (m Mr. Crozier). Second wife Mrs. Scofield of Stamford. He died here in 1730, age 97, and was buried on his farm. A great-grandson, Newton Reed, placed a granite marker on the site of his grave in 1886. 119. CARROLL. Michael CARROLL died 14 June 1851. Michael C. CARROLL, probably his son,  came from Ireland in 1846/47, m Mary Mulrooney Oct. 1850 in Middlesex Co., and settled in Middletown and Portland, Middlesex Co. Twin sons, Michael and James Patrick CARROLL, were b July 1851, and a daughter, Anastasia (Annie), in 1853. Seek any available information on this family. 120. BOW/BOWE. James C. BOW/BOWE was born in Connecticut in 1788. By 1814 he was in Botetourt Co., VA, where he married Sarah (Day) McCahan. Their children were Lucinda, Ozias T.J., Nancy, Amanda, Susannah, Cornelius Henderson, and Joseph D. He was in the 1830 and 1850 Federal Censuses for Montgomery Co., VA.
