The Darien Library maintains a genealogical collection by a sign that reads "Genealogy" in the far right hand corner of the Research Room on the second floor. Included in this collection are books donated by The Middlesex Genealogical Society. MGS donated books in 2017 to three Connecticut libraries: Ferguson Library in Stamford, Bridgeport Public Library, and Godfrey Memorial Library in Middletown.

The Family History Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has genealogical records from all over the world. Go to Discover Your Family History to search for records. Most records are available online, while others are available only on films and fiche that can be ordered and delivered to a local affiliate. The Darien Library is licensed to receive film and fiche you order from LDS, and it has equipment for reading and printing. To order films and fiche, go to Online Film Ordering, where you can order the film, pay for it, and have it delivered to the Darien Library.
The Darien Library has a subscription to American Ancestors magazine in the Genealogy section. It is published by the New England Historic Genealogical Society four times a year.
Volunteers are available, by appointment, to help with research problems, or just to get you started.
The address of the Darien Library is 1441 Post Road. Darien, CT 06820 (Exit 11 from I-95). The Darien Library is 0.7 miles from the Darien Metro-North Railroad station stop. Program meetings are held on the mezzanine level.
